Fuel your fitness and performance goals with functional training

Premier Water & Land leverages the universal benefits of a functional exercise approach that focuses on using your body to build your body.

"To be a successful athlete you must possess all six essential qualities of fitness: balance, coordination, flexibility, endurance, speed and strength."

Our Method

PWL follows The Burdenko Method, developed by Igor N. Burdenko, PhD., which uses a variety of exercise modalities, creating a challenging workout that promotes the 6 essential qualities of fitness: balance, coordination, flexibility, endurance, speed and strength.

Athletes are introduced to a method of conditioning, training, injury prevention and post-rehab exercise that uses a unique combination of water and land exercises.

Athletes learn about the universal benefits of a functional exercise approach that focuses on using your body to build your body. Every session is coordinated so that each exercise complements the next. This unique workout experience helps maximize results while also conditioning your body to defend injury.

Our athletes

We believe that every body benefits from The Burdenko Method. From world-class, elite athletes looking for functional conditioning or recovery, to young athletes building a physical foundation that will support their performance for years to come — Premier Water & Land will help you reach your fitness goals with functional training.

We also specialize in injury prevention, injury rehabilitation, and pre/post-natal movement utilizing training in deep water. The benefits of moving without gravity in water are endless.

“When floating in deep water (in the vertical position) with a flotation device, water creates natural traction in your body. The buoyancy of water (and a flotation device) pulls you up. Gravity pulls you down. The pull in both directions creates more space between joints and stretches muscles, creating traction. More space between joints and stretched muscles increases circulation and allows for more freedom of movement, enhancing range of motion and flexibility. Traction helps stretch back muscles and creates more space between vertebrae, helping to align the body, reduce stress, and increase circulation. “ - Dr. Igor Burdenko

Meet Your Coach

Coach Fucigna graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in Physical Education. Laurie is a Master Certified Conditioning and Training Specialist in the Burdenko Method. She has studied the Burdenko Method under founder and innovator, Dr. Igor Burdenko, and is one of only 20 Master Certified trainers in the country. Laurie has also invested over 10 years developing her knowledge under the guidance of Master Certified, 3-time Olympic ski coach, Tom Barbeau and clinical director of Back on Track Physical Therapy, Paul Salvi.

By using the Burdenko Method, Laurie teaches her athletes to embrace the benefits of a functional approach to exercise by focusing on using your body to build your body. Since the birth of Premier Water and Land, almost all of her athletes have advanced to compete at the college level and many have participated in NCAA Division I athletics.

In addition to training athletes with PWL, Laurie assists with the land and water conditioning program at Waterville Valley Academy, an elite winter snow sports academy for high-level ski racers, freestyle skiers and snowboarders in Waterville Valley, NH.

Laurie also uses The Burdenko Method to train her family of elite ski racers. She realized the power of the Burdenko program after watching two of her daughters use it to rehabilitate and overcome serious injuries.  Post-rehab, they returned back to competition stronger and faster than they would have using traditional physical therapy methods.
